Finish Your Race
God has assigned each of His children to run a race of faith and perseverance. Before I had a broken back, I ran races. I did not choose the route of the race nor did I choose the difficulty of the race. By God’s Grace I was able to finish every race.
When we are saved, we begin to run the race God has outlined for us. Sometimes parts of life is difficult and we must preserve up the hills and through the valleys.
Sometimes we have baggage we hang onto and the Lord shows us we will not be able to finish our race carrying the extra load. We may veer off the path because of wrong decisions we make. Sometimes Christians are deceived believing they married someone they could help but find out instead of helping the other person the Christian feels caught in a trap. There is hope if you truly trust Jesus He will deliver you.
You see, you will not finish your race with extra baggage. Life is difficult enough without two people going in different directions.
Paul says we are to you rid ourselves of the sin that easily hangs on us. A problem some Christians have is they enjoy a challenge. A challenge is not bad in itself but when Satan has an open door in our lives, it can hold you back from being all God has for you to accomplish.
When we have let go of the things and the people we have tried to bring with us, we see we can run the race God has set for us.
James 1:2–4
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
You see, God chose the route of your race. If you are committed to Jesus and are willing to follow Him, He will build perseverance and faith in you.
Hebrews 12:1
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,
You may feel like you will never finish your race because there seems to be more valleys than hills. Jesus is the same Loving God in valley as He is on the hills. All He ask is we trust Him.
Whatever is going on in your life, please remember Jesus is with you and He will never leave you. Jesus loves you and He is committed to you. He will give you the perseverance and faith to finish right on time.
Father help us rid ourselves of everything that hinders us.
