Moses appointed Joshua to continue to lead the people into the promised land. Moses had died upon the mountain now Joshua and Caleb had to wait for all the people to die in the wilderness who had come against God's Word as Moses had led them.
Have you been in a situation where you thought God had to do something now? I am sure many of us have been or in situations where we want God to move quickly, but we know we must wait a little longer. Can you imagine Joshua and Caleb looking around at all the people who were still alive, and had rebelled against God through UNBELIEF? These same people who did not believe God would never see or go to the land of Promise because of the murmuring and complaining in their hearts and God had judged them to die in the wilderness.
Joshua and Caleb could look around and see each day there were fewer who did not believe than the day before. Joshua and Caleb had to wait until every person who had rebelled against God in the wilderness die before Joshua and Caleb could lead the remaining people across. Finally the day came and God said get the people ready, all the unbelievers have died it is time to cross the Jordan River. God through Joshua and Caleb led the people across from the youngest to the oldest, all safely crossed the Jordan River. They were on their way to the Promised Land.
Today if you have heard God say wait, then He is waiting for His appointed time. When we have to wait on God, it important we do not allow unbelief, doubt, murmuring or complaining come out of our mouth. You may not understand fully why you have to wait, but God has His perfect time for all things.
God is always right on time and if we trust Him, He will open doors we should pass through and shut doors He does not want us to pass through.
