Yeah — it’s like we need a special exemption from Godwin’s Law here. Looking back, we wonder how the German people could ever have been so stupid as to let Hitler get into power — and how so many of them got swept up in the resulting inhumanity. But when you see otherwise fairly sane politicians saying things like “Hillary Clinton should be shot” — you start to see alarming parallels.
We can only hope that the greater interconnectedness of our world will allow larger opinions to prevail…but it’s not something I’d bet on.
