A friend of mine, Steve Bivans, had a great take on Ideas earlier this week.

thanks brother! lol

The idea came from Elizabeth Gilbert’s book, Big Magic. In it, she put forward the idea that out there in the ether, ideas are abundant and flow around waiting to find someone to bring them into reality. When they find that person, they present themselves in myriad ways. If, however, the person does not pick that idea up, and try to make it reality, the idea moves on to find another creator.

I’ve experienced this many times in my life, at least the sensation that a great idea I once had, is no longer resonating with me. Then, sometimes, I see similar manifestations of that idea out in the world. Gilbert tells the story of one of hers that is very powerful.

I tend to think she’s correct. I’m pretty fuckin’ sure she is, actually.

But I would say that any idea that comes to you, IS YOURS, as long as you claim it and get to work manifesting it into reality.

That doesn’t mean, that the idea ONLY presents itself to you. I think that some ideas are so powerful, that they don’t rely on one creator to bring them into reality. This is why scientists sometimes come up with the same experiment and results in different places around the world, at the same time, when they haven’t communicated with one another. Another great book, by a scientist, that discusses this phenomenon, is Rupert Sheldrake’s The Science Delusion: Science Set Free. Check it out. It’s very eye opening.
