The passing of legendary songwriter Cynthia Weil at 82 is a reminder of how songs were written in the ’60s. The Brooklyn-born Weil teamed up with fellow Brooklynite (and her husband) Barry Mann to pen some of rock and pop’s most enduring tunes. Here’s their Top 10:

  1. You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling — Righteous Brothers, #1, 1964 (also written by Phil Spector); covered by Dionne Warwick, #16, 1969 and Hall & Oates, #12, 1980.

2. On Broadway — The Drifters, #9, 1963; covered by George Benson, #7, 1978.
