Brilliant. Your conclusion is spot on. If we don’t become cost conscious as individuals we are done. Do we need a “School House Rock” type program with little cartoons singing songs to get these ideas across?

But, even if we do get a grip on this, it’s going to be painful to scale back to reasonable costs because healthcare is a huge sub-economy in the US. If they have to start cutting costs and run their businesses more efficiently, there are going to be layoffs; there are going to be independent sales reps out of work; there are going to be cottage industries drying up. I’m not saying those things should be avoided — they’re necessary — but it will be painful.
