Joe, nice work with this article. I found it honest and refreshing to read. In the Catholic and Anglican traditions, there is a phrase that is used in the liturgy that says, “The mystery of faith.” Maybe this is why my favorite verse in the Bible is Psalm 60:3, “You have shown Your people hard things; You have made us drink the wine of confusion.” I confess, there is a lot I don’t understand as well. Why a sovereign God planned, created, and implemented the human story the way He did is unquestionably perplexing. I mean, He didn’t have to do it this way, but nevertheless, He did. Ultimately, if the Christian faith is going to work, one has to embrace the definition of faith: “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
