The Next Generation of Wireless — “5G” — Is All Hype.

Hopefully for dense cities like San Francisco they put the 5G routers in as a public utility like the author described. It’s ridiculous how many different routers there are in most places and redundant to have next door neighbors competing with each their own data connection and wifi router. Also it would be great if they could build in flexible dynamic password access control so that one router could work for everyone in range. The hardware requirements for 5G seem minor in terms of cost even including the last mile when compared to the cost of so many multiple redundant competing wifi routers that won’t be needed anymore.
