Hey, let’s neutralize population growth by sending people to Mars! Oh, wait. We add about 200,000 people a day. That means we send Amarillo today, Little Rock tomorrow, Akron the day after …. just to stay even. And we’ve sent fewer than 1000 individuals into space in 50 years (several thousand if you count multiple trips). And the record for the total number of people in space at any one time is thirteen. Yeah, keeping Earth habitable is easier.
