In a M.A.S.H. episode, Hawkeye spins some wacko Rube-Goldberg theory, only to have Col. Flagg (the crazy spy) say “There’s only one thing wrong with that idea.” To which Hawkeye responds “Only one?”

There’s “only one” thing wrong with your political strategy. Those 40 million people who voted for Trump. Whatever you want, they don’t want with at least equal passion. So you might get your dream Progressive platform to appeal to 20 million voters, and maybe some millions more who are repelled by the Republican candidate. the others will pull the (R) lever.

One of the awkward things about democracy is that decisions get made by you and by people who radically detest everything you hold dear.

And then there’s stuff like this: https://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/19/us/regulatory-war-fought-over-a-wyoming-familys-pond.html A rancher built a pond on his eight acre property. The EPA, despite the fact that stock ponds are specifically excluded from their jurisdiction, took him to court on criminal charges. He filled the pond with water from a creek that ultimately drained into a navigable waterway, making his pond a “navigable waterway.” The EPA lost the criminal case, so then they turned around and pressed civil charges. He beat those and is now suing the Government. But even if he wins, the EPA won’t lose any funding and the people who harassed him with frivolous lawsuits won’t get fired.

Guess what? All those red states with three electoral votes, the ones who will block every attempt to abolish the Electoral College? They just got redder. And this is what pi$$es me off. After losing to Trump, of all people, you persist in doing stupid things that alienate voters. Find out what you did to alienate people badly enough to vote for Trump and stop doing it.
