Cast-Off

You cast me off -

Some clothes you outgrew -

More like clothes you wore out

You claimed I was too

Full of holes

But you knew

I was hand-me-down from the start

Maybe that’s why I fit so well

Maybe that’s why you were comfortable

You seemed to like having me on

Whenever you were going out

or draped upon your arm

or strewn across your bed

Holding you tight

Keeping you warm

But I guess you got sick

of my faded look

Bulging at the seams

Made you look…

Fat?

Did I?

Maybe you just outgrew me.
