Slack, I’m Breaking Up with You

The most important thing you say here — the thing that can’t be solved by your just having better self control and clearer expectations management with your colleagues — is about the bias toward people with less on their plates. I think this is a huge issue: if decisions are made in Slack by whoever turns up (a broken system, but I think a common one), this is a real distortion. It also allows people who, by definition, aren’t busy doing something else, to appear busy and engaged, which is not good.
