The Advantage by Patrick Lencioni

“The single greatest advantage any company can achieve is organizational health. Yet it is ignored by most leaders even though it is simple, free, and available to anyone who wants it.”

This book walks through the four disciplines required to create this advantage: Build a cohesive leadership team, create clarity, over-communicate clarity, and then reinforce clarity. The health of an organization is predicated by the health of its leadership and the author starts by walking through practical steps to make that happen. The remainder of the book is the rationale coupled with practical methodology to clearly translate the qualities of the leadership team throughout the organization.

Although written specifically for those in leadership roles, this book is a fantastic resource for anyone at any level within an organization. It is filled throughout with both positive and negative examples from the real world which give example of and credibility to the subject matter.

The only reason I give it 4 stars is the lack of any novel methodologies. But yet therein lies its value: just do the things that you already know how to do. This book is an easy read about down-to-earth content and will refine how you think about how you lead.
