Open Letter from a Bernlary Supporter
Chris Hon

Primaries in general suck. Back in the fifties only a few states had primaries. In the other states party members went to local meetings to choose candidates for local elections and delegates for the state convention. The state conventions chose candidates for state offices and delegates for state offices and delegates for the national convention where they actually nominated their candidate for president. The first time government and people who did not care enough about party politics to go to meetings were involved was election day.

Now a candidate has to pretty much be rich as hell or sell his soul to people who are to even get started. The selling point for primaries was everybody could more easily be involved, the effect is the opposite.
