HOW TO RESET OR SETUP BELKIN RANGE EXTENDER
• What is range extender?
Range extender is a device that helps you to boost the signal range and extend capacity of any router signal configured or arranged with it. It gives you different settings from the router such as Password and Band, network name (SSID) settings. It helps you to extend the range of main router you can cover every corner of your house. And it totally depends on your existing wireless signal. Belkin range extenders now having many series and model number. Each model and series have their different specification. Most useful feature of Belkin range extender, it is compatible with any wireless router.
Things that are needed for pre setup requirements
Network name (SSID) and password (network key).
Ethernet Cable
Working Router with Internet Connection.
Electric socket (or plug) within 30–40 meter from router.
Smart phone or Laptop with full browser.
Default Login and IP for Belkin Range Extender.
• HOW TO SETUP BELKIN EXTENDER?
Here are the easy way to install Belkin Extender wirelessly using Laptop. Follow the instructions given below:-
1. First of all, Plug in your Belkin Range Extender into electric switch within the range of your main router.
2. Turn on the power for Belkin extender and wait for loading process.
3. After that, Go to your laptop and refresh the available network list on your laptop.
4. Search an unsecured network name similar to Belkin. Setup (check the configuration card came with extender).
5. Connect with new network (Belkin. Setup)
6. Once the extender connected it should automatically open your default browser, and take you to Belkin Extender Dashboard.
7. After connected with Belkin. Setup Go to your favorite browser & Type http://belkin.range or http:// 192.168.206.1 & press Enter.
NOTE: To login Belkin wireless router go to 192.168.2.1
Once you logged into Belkin Range Extender, proceed with below given instructions:
• First, Click on Get started & Let the Extender search the list for available wireless network with its range.
• Find & select your router wireless name. After that you will be asked for password to join Belkin extender.
• Now, carefully type the password of your existing router and wait a minute to get it connect with main router.
• If you have a Dual Band wireless router it will show options to select the network which you would like to Extend.
Note: — If you are using a single band Belkin Wi-Fi router Extender it will only detect 2.4 GHz band but if you have a dual band router as well it will help you to extending both bands for better performance.
• Now, you can either print the information or complete setup or you can edit the settings according to you.
We would recommend you to save all the settings.
• If you want to make any changes, you can always change to your Belkin Extender by logging into Belkin Extender Dashboard.
• After the installation, place your Extender wherever you want to place it.
You can now test the connection and speed.
HOW TO RESET BELKIN RANGE EXTENDER
To reset, you will need to hold the reset button on the back of your Extender using a pin, paperclip, hold reset button for 45 second until blue light stays on for a few second straight.
You then connect directly to the new Wi-Fi SSID named “Belkin. Setup “.Then open browser & visit the website http://Belkin.range, or use the IP address http://192.168.2.06.1
Now press ‘START’ if you are ready.
And continue the prompts, entering connection details for you the router are extending.
You then configure your extender with the WIFI SSID and password for the WIFI routers range you wants to get extended.
Once changes are done, disconnect from ‘Belkin. Setup’ SSID
Now connect to your normal WIFI.
INSTALL BELKIN EXTENDER BY USING ETHERNET CABLE
Mostly, the steps are quite same which are explained above in the post but connection type is bit different .Like if you are not able to connect with Belkin Setup network or you can’t able to access the Belkin Extender configuration dashboard. So you can try this method:
Requirements — wireless Enabled Laptop with a full browser, 2 meter internet cable
To go ahead with this method follow these steps:-
o Plug in the Belkin Extender into the power plug.
o Plug the Ethernet cable to LAN port of your Belkin Extender and from the second end of internet cable connect it with your laptop.
o Turn off the wireless capability.
o Now, open the browser and type http://Belkin.range to access settings .You will have to use the default login to access the settings i.e. http://Belkin.range .
o Rest all settings are the same as given in the above post (“How to setup Belkin range extender”).
o After setting up Extender place it wherever you would like to place within 30–40 from the main router.
