Is it possible to promote design thinking without shoveling up a condescending caricature of a traditional newsroom? Reporters and editors always have had their antennae in the community, for signals, murmurs, and shouts. A good newsroom is inherently sensitive to the needs, interests, passions and curiosities of the community it serves. It is pliable and adaptive. The “empathize design…” template is an academic construction of the obvious.
