Janet Jackson, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, and The Making of “Control”
Gino Sorcinelli

There are some flaws to this story. 1)Jam & Lewis did not get fired over “Just Be Good To Me”. By then they had already dealt with Clarence Avant was the CEO of Tabu Records, S.O.S Band’s label. They were fired because they missed a tour date. The song which they produced was “Lock & Key” by Klymmaxx, was the session that their flight got snowed in Atlanta. Had they had not missed their flight, who knows what their fate would have been. 2) Janet Jackson did not pick them to be producers for her “Control” album. They picked HER after they were asked which act they wanted to produce on the A&M roster by John McCain, who was the chief A&R to A&M Records.
