Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion Ep 5: What the Heck is Going On?
We are now officially entering the stage of Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion where the hero has altered the events of the novel/game they’d been Isekai’d to so much they begin learning things that delve beyond the confines of the original game/novel they thought they knew. But this anime appears to be taking this whole trope to new heights, and it’s working.
An example that elicited the least “what the heck is going on?” type of reaction is when Raeliana discovers the real reason why her ex-fiance Francis Brooks tried to kill the character she resurrected as. The fact that she has no idea who Jake Langston is after he abducted her in episode 4 of Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion means that the truth behind why her character dies before the events of the novel is never discovered.
It also leads me to wonder what the novel’s original protagonist Beatrice Tranchett was doing over the course of the actual story. Apparently, Raeliana’s death is what influences Beatrice to act in such a way that jump starts the events of the novel, so either Beatrice gets swept up by something else entirely or doesn’t solve…
