And Another One

What the hell am I doing on Medium?

I don’t need Medium. I already run the mothership on WordPress, as well as an oft-neglected outpost on Tumblr. Having yet another blog seems superfluous. And yet, here I am.

I could blame my being here on Marco Arment. Or I could blame Glenn Fleishman. But, really, the only person I can blame is myself. I have my own platform, however small. I even paid for my own domain. Between my freelancing, my two blogs, and writing in Day One, I’m not wanting for opportunity to write. It’s what I do. But being the curious nerd that I am, I wanted to take Medium for the proverbial spin. What can I say? I like spinning things.

I don’t know how often I’ll post here, but I can say that my first impression of Medium is that it’s awfully nice. The typography is nice. The way in which you stylize text is nice. The CMS feels nice to use. What’s done is done well, and I can see why Medium is gaining in popularity. To be skeptical of the platform’s longevity is valid, but what exists tonight, as I write this, is damn impressive. Ev Williams and crew should be commended for their good work.

So, consider this first post spin taken and Steven approved.
