Regrets of Last Gen

My biggest regrets of the 7th Generation of Video Game Consoles

Everyone has regrets no matter who you are!

Back in 2005, Microsoft released the successor to the Xbox, named Xbox 360. This started the 7th Generation of video game consoles which were then followed by the Wii and PS3 in 2006. I was 11 when this generation started and 17 when it ended. This is the first generation that I remember going through start to finish. It’s only a few hours away from the release of Sony’s Playstation 4, the dawn of a new generation has begun. I have some regrets of things I did last gen. that I wanted to get off my chest before the next one really begins.

Nintendo Wii, Released in 2006

Regret #1: Having only a Wii until 2009

Don't get me wrong, I love the Wii but, it wasn't really up to snuff hardware and feature wise to the other HD consoles. I missed out on many high quality titles that came out between 2006 and 2009. Such as Call of Duty 4,Halo 3,Assassin’s Creed, and many other 3rd party games that never came to the Wii. Now I did buy a Xbox 360 in 2009 so I was finally able to experience those games I missed out on, but Halo 3 was not the same in 2009 as it was in 2007.

Regret #2: Not Buying a PS3

At launch this made sense, who else would buy a video game system that costed 599 US Dollars I mean really. But when the slim came out in 2009 it was finally affordable to own this system, but I didn’t. At that time I bought a Xbox 360 because I wanted to play Halo and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts. It was only when Sony introduced the Playstation Plus program that I started to look at the PS3. But it was too late for me, I didn't have any income to support buying a 3rd video game system. But finally this year I have some disposable income so this Black Friday I’m thinking of picking up the Black Friday PS3 bundle. 250GB PS3 Super-Slim with The Last of Us and Batman Arkham Origins for $200. Thats a far cry away from 599 US Dollars

Sony Playstation Portable, Released 2004 (Japan) 2005 for the rest of the world

Regret #3: Never Buying a PSP

Now this regret is a smaller one compared to the PS3. There are only really a handful of games I would play on the PSP, Sonic Rivals 1 and 2, the early WWE Smackdown! vs RAW video games, and maybe the Grand Theft Auto games, but thats it! Maybe one day I’ll buy a PSP from GameXchange or a mom and pop video game store but not today. I would go buy a PS Vita before I bought a PSP.

Greatness Awaits!

Sony Playstation 4, released 2013

Well those are my main regrets of the 7th Generation of video game systems. What lies in store for the 8th gen, who knows? All I know is that I'm going to get a Wii U and a PS4 for next gen and hopefully those won't be regrets.
