The future is already here
It’s just not evenly distributed.
Innovation takes time. Tesla’s electric vehicles have been around for many years already, but only now are they slowly getting into the picture. Artificial intelligence and computer vision have been known for ages in academics and fields like space, (military) aviation and computer games but in 2016 we will start to see that kind of technology in cars. These cars won’t be available just yet for everybody, but they will be by 2025 or perhaps earlier. An EV in the 10-15k EUR price range and an 100k autonomy would have a huge ecological impact.
Software already automates a lot for us, but it still lacks some kind of intelligence. With the availability of API’s such as IBM’s Watson, Facebook’s wit.ai and image & video recognition platform clarif.ai 2016 will see the beginning of the augmented era visible throughout our societies.
