If you find yourself firing a lot, all else being equal, it says something negative about you as a manager. Ask the people you fire what they like least about you. They have no reason to hold back the complete truth from you, whereas your friends and employees have lots of reason.
Politics happens when people, especially leaders, put their personal wishes ahead of the goals of the company. The more of it there is, the less the team is focused on the company’s goals. It’s presence can therefore be used as a signal that you as a leader need to help everyone, but especially your team, refocus on what’s important.
