Connecticut’s premier design solutions provider, Infinity Group, is proud to announce that Susan McGann, the President of the Connecticut affiliate of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA), has won our social media contest giving away a brand new Fitbit Flex.

After McGann recently lost a Fitbit, which she had worn every day, she came across Infinity Group’s social media contest giving away a brand new Fitbit Flex. McGann won the contest, and the Connecticut HDSA President finally got the new Fitbit this past weekend.

“This is amazing,” McGann said. “I used to wear my old one every single day. Thank you!”

McGann is the volunteer President of the Connecticut affiliate of HDSA, a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of everyone effected by Huntington’s Disease. Huntington’s is a fatal, noncurable genetic disease that has a 50% chance of being passed on from parents to children. HDSA was founded in 1968 by Majorie Guthrie, the wife of legendary folk singer Woody Guthrie, after her husband died from Huntington’s Disease at the age of 55.

Like Majorie Guthrie, Susan’s husband also suffers from Huntington’s Disease — as did his sister, whose life was taken by the disease. That is what inspired Susan to become the volunteer President of the HDSA 10 years ago.

Susan has worked passionately over the past decade to generate awareness about Huntington’s Disease, as well as raise funds to find a cure. She organizes an annual charity walk, which will next be held on May 21, 2017 at Chatfield Hollow State Park in Killingworth, CT. Susan spends a great deal of her time looking for volunteers and sponsors for the walk.

Susan also puts together an HD Education Day, which takes place on April 1. She also oversees two support groups, one at Backus Hospital in Norwich and one conducted by Debbie Pausig in North Haven.
