The left (especially labor] used to understand that wage suppression affects all low-skill workers, not merely the ones who have been directly replaced by someone who crossed the border in their state. Do you think crops wouldn’t be picked if the borders were sealed? Wrong. Wages would rise until market labor needs were satisfied, and if food prices rose, so be it.
