Why is Verizon letting rural broadband decay?

In the Berkshires, many people are only belatedly coming to understand how much of the county has been redlined by Verizon. But Verizon is just being Verizon — it has a monopoly in its area and acts like a monopolist. The fault is that our government has abandoned pockets of rural America like the Berkshires. Only belatedly are residents waking up to how vital high speed HOME internet is. I suggest for a start that no politician — state legislators or congressional who represents the area be reelected until their constituents get the vital connectivity they need.
