I believe all Southern liberals come from the same starting point — race. Once you figure out they are lying to you about race, you start to question everything.

Rhett, I agree with you 100 percent. These statues are not history alone. History can be read in books and observed in museums. A statue in a public space represents veneration and commemoration. I believe that is obvious to all. Statues erected for men who fought for the preservation and extension of the odious American tradition of slavery, who rebelled and seceded from the Union because of it, are an offense to all. That they have stood for so long is amazing. I was born in the South, and have lived here all of my life. I am white, too. But this is a wonderful turn of events that I did not foresee. Thanks for writing this.
