Time for Manchester to Quit Its Dull and Damaging Addiction to Nostalgia

It’s not like other Manchester bands aren’t getting attention. Blossoms, Elbow, Courteeners all sell out big venues. New Order are still making music, so it’s not exactly pining back for the past. Stone Roses had their time with the comeback, but that’s pretty much done now. Hacienda Classical isn’t exactly the only classical/dance music retrospective doing the rounds either. Also, this fails to mention any of the electronic music side of things, which are thriving in the small venues around the city. Small minded, one dimensional article. Everyone loves a bit of nostalgia, but there’s is more to the city than that. I mean, part of the thing you are complaining about is one of the most forward thinking art festivals on the planet.
