Thanks for everything you’ve done in this election cycle, Bernie. You took us further than I ever dreamed possible and woke up many people to the possibility of a progressive movement and political party in the U.S. Although in the end you couldn’t overcome the vast bureaucracy of a party and the corporate media pitted against you, I support your efforts with all my heart.
I won’t be voting for Hillary in November, as I hope no one living in a red or blue state will do. For those of us living in about 40 red or blue states/DC, it doesn’t matter who we vote for because the Electoral College gives all our votes to the winner of our jurisdiction, and we can’t possibly change the outcome because of our demographics. I’ll personally vote for Jill Stein because she most closely represents my/your positions. I don’t want the Democratic Party to continue to take my vote in confidence so they continue to push candidates and a platform I don’t fully support.
Moving forward, I hope you’ll find ways to tap in to existing efforts for progressive change. For example, the Working Families Party has important infrastructure built in many states already, and we’ll need a real ground game if we’re going to convince people to support progressive ideas and candidates. Ultimately, it can’t just be about election cycles if we’re going to rebuild our country. Our work is much more fundamental than that, and it will take many of us talking to people to convince them to help take back our democracy.
Thanks again for your extraordinary effort, Bernie.
