Josh- Proper syntax and spelling gives the opinion piece’s author an added tool to persuade. There is such a crowded field of articles, opinions, and media options now, and good grammar should become a priority for you. Your goal, as I see it, is to “capture eyeballs” and connect with folks you do not know, and to throw some truth on a topic. Many feel if an author does not make the effort to write properly, then why should they make the effort to read his article, let alone change their points of view on controversial topics? - Steve
