Nike’s Tinker Hatfield

Netflix creates a lot of awesome TV and coming up in February they’re about to release an 8 part series called Abstract: The Art of Design. Each episode follows a different designer from a different discipline (footwear design, architecture, graphic design, illustration, automotive design, photography, interior design, and set design) and investigates their processes and inspiration.

Packed with prominent designers including Nike’s Tinker Hatfield (Air Jordans), Fiat-Chrysler’s Ralph Gilles, Es Devlin (London 2012 Olympic closing ceremony) and BIG architect Bjarke Ingels (West 57 in New York) its going to be interesting to compare the similarities and differences in their approach to concept development, research and client interaction.

Abstract is created by Wired editor-in-chief, Scott Dadich in conjunction with Radical Media and Tremolo Productions. The first two episodes screened at Sundance over the weekend with the full series released for streaming on February 10.
