The Truth About Perfection

I really like this Kim. It’s something that we need to be reminding ourselves of on a regular basis I think. For me, as a writer and someone who encourages others to start or return to writing, the concept, coined by Anne Lamott, of the “shitty first draft” is extremely helpful in challenging the disabling influence of perfectionism.

The liberating idea that the first thing you write won’t be very good takes a lot of pressure off and enables the writing to begin. I think this can be applied to most things we want to do and is an exellent maxim to combat the tyranny of perfectionism.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
