This is the worst idea ever, and an awful way of breaking the news. I’m amazed by how heavy handed OKcupid was in trying to spin it as a positive development rather than removing a useful feature. It’s incredibly patronizing. I’d much rather they say straight up that they didn’t want to spend the money (like when Spotify removed the messaging feature, which I also liked but recognized that pretty much no one had heard of it) or that they were migrating the feature to the paid subscription. I’m kind of embarassed to be complaining about the loss of a feature on a dating website, but this was insulting.
