How to Use Your Fear: A Guide for When Your Back Is Against The Wall!
Introduction
I am an optimist. I believe that fear should be used as a motivator, not something to hold us back. Fear is a necessary feeling if you want to push yourself and accomplish things that have never been done before. So how do we use our fears in order to become successful?
First, you need to accept that fear is part of life. We can’t run from it forever nor should we try too hard. The most important thing is knowing when your back against the wall what your next move will be; this way you can push yourself through those uncomfortable feelings until you reach success!
When we are at our lowest point, we can gain strength from it.
When we are at our lowest point, we can gain strength from it. When the odds are stacked against you and everything seems to be going wrong, use your fear as fuel for action. Don’t let fear stop you from reaching your goals or taking action.
You may not know how to do something but if someone tells you that they do, then trust them! Trusting yourself is important too — trust that everything will work out in the end no matter what happens along the way (even if this means having faith in yourself).
Accept — Fear is a necessity. Use it in your favor.
You’re not alone in your fear. It’s a natural human emotion that can be used to help you succeed. Fear keeps us safe and out of harm’s way, but when it comes to achieving goals and dreams, we need to learn how to use our fears as tools instead of letting them hold us back from achieving our potential.
In order for this process to work effectively, it requires accepting one simple truth: You will always have some measure of fear in your life — no matter what happens or where you go. Whether it’s taking risks with money or putting yourself out there socially at work, there will always be some level of uncertainty associated with every decision we make; however small or large they may seem at first glance.
Develop courage — Find courage in the fear to push you through it.
When your back is against the wall, it can be difficult to find the courage you need to push through. However, with some practice and determination, you can actually use your fear as a source of strength.
It’s important to remember that no matter how much we try not to let our fears get in the way of our dreams, they are still there — and they always will be! So instead of allowing them hold us back from achieving what we want out of life, why not use them as fuel? Here are some ideas on how:
- Practice positive thinking — One way that people often deal with their fears is by telling themselves negative things about themselves or their situation (i.e., “I’ll never get this done!”). Instead try focusing on what could go right instead: “If I work hard enough at this task today then maybe tomorrow I won’t have any more worries left over.” This may sound cheesy but it works!
Try talking yourself through the process until eventually saying positive things becomes second nature.* Find someone else who’s been where you’re at now — There’s nothing like hearing another person’s story about overcoming obstacles like yours for inspiration — especially if theirs were similar enough so as not feel like wishful thinking but different enough so as not feel too far away either.* Learn from past mistakes — After making mistakes in certain situations before doesn’t mean those same ones will happen again; rather than dwelling on what went wrong last time around instead focus on improving upon those actions next time around.* Learn new skills/ knowledge related specifically towards whatever goal(s) may help achieve yours.
Know your strengths — Remember why your started. You have all the hours that you put in to back you.
When your back is against the wall, it’s easy to forget all of the hard work and dedication that got you to where you are now. We live in a world where we are constantly bombarded with information about how we can get more done faster, better and easier — and sometimes these messages can take hold of us and make us believe that our success depends on how much time we put into something rather than what kind of skills or experience we have under our belt.
So before you start feeling overwhelmed by pressure, remember: there was no way around putting in those hours at first! When things seem like they’re falling apart, look back at all those hours spent learning new skills or taking classes; think about all those connections made along the way; think about how much knowledge gained from past experiences has prepared for this moment right now.
Keep perspective — Know that when it comes to what you’re working towards it will one day be worth it.
When you are in the thick of it, it’s easy to forget that you are not alone. You have come a long way and accomplished much. There will be times when you feel like giving up or that what you are working towards is out of reach, but this should not be an option! Remembering how far you have come will give you the motivation and determination necessary to keep going when things get tough — and they will get tough!
Take action — Step into fear or it will step over you!
The next time you’re in a situation where your back is against the wall, use your fear to help you succeed. There are two ways to do this:
- Take action — get ready, set, and step into fear or it will step over you! If you want to become successful at something and have been putting off doing it because of fear or anxiety? Don’t delay any longer! Get started today and move forward with confidence knowing that whatever happens from here on out is up to YOU!
This can be applied to any goal (e.g., starting a business) or task (e.g., going through medical school). The key is being willing and able take action despite feeling anxious about it because once we’ve done something successfully once before then there’s no reason why we can’t do it again…and again…and again…until eventually there comes a point where we realize “hey wait a minute — I actually AM good at this stuff now!”
Conclusion
So, the next time you find yourself in a situation where your back is against the wall and you have no choice but to take action, remember these four steps. Accept that fear is a necessity. Develop courage by finding courage in the fear itself. Know your strengths and keep perspective of what you are working towards as it will all be worth it when it’s done!
