Your remarks are spot on but they do not cover your first sentence
with which you longer agree.
“Don’t cry at work If you are upset go home and cry in the shower”
While being vulnerable has all of the positives you describe,
crying at work is another thing altogether.
It is best not to do it.
If it is necessary for you to indulge,
because sometimes it is absolutely needed to cleanse the soul
and reconnect with yourself, then retire to somewhere private,
and let people come to you if they feel they can help you.
Crying at work is disruptive, prone to being manipulative,
makes others feel uncomfortable because they are not social workers
and do not know what to do about it, and it is definitely unprofessional.
