Although Amazon did not handle this well, universally granting access like “every other app ever” is an absolutely terrible idea. No offense intended but please do not normalize poor security practices.

There are serious privacy implications here; next time you could be dealing with a bad actor rather than a well-intentioned-but poorly-implemented app like Amazon’s.
