Bedrock: Amazon’s New Platform in the Race for Generative AI

Amazon is entering the competition of generative AI by collaborating with third parties to host models on AWS instead of building AI models on its own.

Today, AWS has launched Amazon Bedrock, a platform that enables the development of generative AI-based applications using pretrained models from various startups like AI21 Labs, Anthropic, and Stability AI. The platform is currently available in a “limited preview” and also provides access to Titan FMs, a group of models that AWS has trained in-house.

Vasi Philomin, the VP of generative AI at AWS, mentioned in a phone interview with TechCrunch that AWS specializes in implementing machine learning in real-world scenarios and resolving actual business problems at a large scale. He further added that they believe generative AI has the potential to reimagine every existing application out there.
