Matrix Morpheus
Morpheus is a Greek god of dreams, the one with the amazing ability of appearing in dreams of mortals in any form. As his name implies the Greek word “morphe” means “form” he was the one who shaped and formed the dreams. Morpheus was the dream messenger of Gods, communicating the divine messages through images and stories, created as dreams. Morpheus himself had a talent in mimicking any human in the dreams.
Morpheus is also famous character of movie series Matrix, he known with that quote: “ This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.” Character is based on mythological Morpheus, and also his quotes recall the Greek God.
The name of the opiate drug morphine is derived from the name of Morpheus.

Morpheus, Yunan mitolojisindeki rüya tanrısı, insanların rüyalarına girip istediği ölümlü şeklini alabiliyor. Morpheus aynı zamanda tanrıların rüya postacısı, tanrılardan gelen mesajları hikayeler, şekiller ile ölümlülere aktarıyor. Morpheus bir başka özelliği de rüyalarda istediği insan gibi davranabilmesi özelliği.
Morpheus ismi aynı zamanda Matrix serisinin en önemli karakterlerinden birinin ismi. Biz bu karakteri özellikle şu sözü ile biliyoruz: “ Bu senin son şansın bundan sonra bir geri dönüş olmayacak. Mavi hapı alırsan bu hikaye sona erer yatağında uyanırsın ve istediğin her neyse ona inanırsın. Kırmızı hapı alırsan harikalar diyarında kalırsın ve ben de sana tavşan deliğinin derinliğini gösteririm.” Karakterin yapısı mitolojik Morpheus temel alınarak kurgulanmış, aynı zamanda filmdeki sözleri de bize Yunan Tanrı’sını çağrıştırıyor.
İlaç olarak kullanılan morfin kelimesi de yine Morpheus’tan türetilmiş bir kelimedir.
