If you are willing to adopt a cat, then you should check its health as you are making a lifelong commitment to the pet’s life.

Here are a few common signs of a healthy cat:

BRIGHT EYES

A healthy cat has bright, alert, and evenly focused eyes.

FACT: Cats have a third eye. Let’s know a bit about this third eye, this will also tell you much about the cat’s health.

Cats have an inner eyelid, known as Palpebra Tertia or Nictitating Membrane. This third eye is regarded the same as wisdom teeth or appendix present in human beings.

The third eye should not be visible. If the third eye is visible and the other eye is not, then the cat is facing eyesight issues!

CLEAN EARS

A healthy cat will have clear and comprehensive ears!

If the cat has a beautiful layer of fur on the ear’s surface and has no bald spots, then this gives a green signal towards its health.

From inside, the color of the ear should be light pink, and there should not be any discharge, redness, or swelling. This will ensure that the cat is healthy and is brought up with good care!

CLEAN NOSE

A physically fit cat will indeed have a clean nose!

To judge the cat’s health based on its nose, you should check if it is getting bothered with the nose and is sneezing frequently; then, the cat is facing some health issues!

NOTE: Usually, the nose of the cat is warm, but it can also depend on the weather condition!

GOOD APPETITE

Before adopting your furry buddy, observe the cat’s appetite for about 24 hours.

Through this, you will be able to observe the eating habit of the cat- how frequently they feel hungry and how much food they eat on a regular basis.

If the cat is not eating or drinking on frequent breaks, then the Persian cat might be facing some digestive issues!

BEHAVIOUR OF THE CAT

Usually, cats are quite playful and get super excited after looking at new faces.

If the cat is inactive, consult the breeder or veterinarian before adopting them.

HEART RATE AND THE TEMPERATURE OF THE CAT

The heart rate should range from 110 to 240 beats per minute if the cat is healthy.

A fit cat will have a body temperature of 100 to 102.5 degrees Fahrenheit.
