There is art for the general public, and the art for connoisseurs.

The art for the general public is available in abundance for free. Even the great works of art can be cheaply reproduced or right away pirated, and there is a growing community of amateur artists sharing their art for free.

The question is whether there are enough connoisseurs to support expert artists.
