Life in the Here After — Part 3
We learn about near-death experiences from people who have only just started the death experience. What they report does not fully reveal what awaits them after passing through ‘Death’s Door’ to the other side.
Because there is evidence that our Higher Spirit transitions to — or refocuses on — some new aspect of the Soul after the death of our physical form in this 3D reality, the question becomes: Does the transition happen instantly?
And, if it is to be a reincarnation of the Soul into this or another ‘physical’ realm, is there some “place” where the Soul resides after our physical death? Some ‘place’ where it can just ‘be’ before the next incarnation?

The Soul’s Journey Between Lives
In his two classic books, Journey of Souls: Case Studies of Life Between Lives and Destiny of Souls: New Case Studies of Life Between Lives, Dr. Michael Newton presents his fascinating research into what he terms “life between lives.”
After hypnotizing thousands of clients, Dr. Newton found that it didn’t matter if the client was an atheist, a religiously devout person, or anything in between. Once they were in the proper hypnotized state — where their dogmatic beliefs took a back seat — they were all consistent in their reports of what they experienced after the death of their physical form.
Ponder that for a moment. Through an advanced form of hypnosis, Dr. Newton found a way to essentially bypass their ‘faith’ filters such that people with vastly differing beliefs about life — and the presence (or lack thereof) of an afterlife — all reported virtually the same experiences.
The death experience and movement to life between lives
According to Newton’s research, at death, some souls decide to linger in this 3D reality in their astral bodies (the energetic duplicate of the physical form). In doing so, they can watch their funerals and try to reach out to and console their loved ones to let them know they’re OK.
Whether immediately or eventually, the Soul ultimately feels compelled to depart the Earth’s plane and do so in a manner where ‘seeing a tunnel of light’ is often experienced.
Some enlightened quantum physicists propose that the described ‘tunnel of light’ could be an energetic form of wormhole that transports the Soul energy from this 3D reality into another state of being that vibrates at a higher frequency.
This higher energy state is invisible to us in this 3D realm, where we see only a tiny part of the electromagnetic spectrum of energy called visible light. Click here for my article on this subject.
Upon entering the tunnel of indescribable white light, people often see someone waiting for them. Someone who they quickly recognize to be their guide. This guide appears to be an “advanced” Soul — a more experienced Soul of a higher vibrational nature. One who acts as a mentor as we shift (reincarnate) from one linear lifetime to the next.
No-time between lives
We must understand that time doesn’t exist in the higher energy realms in the same way as it does in the linear time of our 3D reality. Practically speaking, this means that we can often spend what would seem to be hundreds of years between lifetimes. And then, we can choose to incarnate into a physical body that is born only nine months after our last body died.
An incorrect view of the structure of time has created a misunderstanding among some believers in reincarnation. They don’t think it is possible that a Soul that has just experienced a physical body death in one lifetime can instantly transfer into a new body inside a mother who has recently become pregnant.
However, such instant transferal has been documented in numerous cases of children who remembered their past lives and were born only nine months after their death in their previous life.
With the correct view of the illusory nature of time, one realizes there can be a ‘long interval’ spent in the timeless realm of higher vibrational energy before the reincarnation only nine months later in our 3D reality.
What we accomplish in the life between lives
So, what do we do during all that ‘no-time’ spent between physical lifetimes? Thousands of Newton’s hypnosis subjects reported similar experiences, such as Souls attending spiritual classrooms of sorts, taking part in various forms of recreation, learning from advanced Souls about how to work with energy, and many other activities.
Depending on how difficult our previous life has been (involving emotional and/or physical trauma), our Soul may be taken for energy cleansing and restoration.
After that, there is what’s referred to as a ‘life review’ — one in which the Soul steps into holographic, three-dimensional scenes from their life just lived and re-experiences every joy (and pain) they caused to themselves and others in that life.
Note that the sixth density of energy vibration is often considered the realm where our Higher Spirit conducts our ‘life review’ (Click here for my articles regarding the seven densities of energy vibration).
So, does that mean the sixth energy density is the ‘place’ where we reside during our life between lives? Intriguing.
After the energy cleansing and life review, the Soul is taken to reunite with the Souls of their loved ones. Notably, those closest to us on Earth make up a ‘Soul group’ in the life-between-lives realm.
For example, in one life, you could be the son of one of the Souls in your Soul group. In the next life, that Soul could be your mother. And in another life, you may be sisters.
When we first ‘individuate’ from the Higher Spirit, some say we are part of a Soul family of 30 to 50 individuals — connected Souls who collaborate and cooperate through many incarnations with each other.
Ultimately, a group of Souls will merge into a single Soul entity at a higher energy frequency within the 6th energy density realm as it prepares for ascension to the 7th density.
Souls are frequencies of energy with distinct colors. Science shows us that each color has a different frequency or rate of vibration associated with it.
The color denotes the Soul’s level of spiritual advancement or its vibrational frequency. The more advanced a Soul is in spiritual terms, the higher its frequency of energy and the closer its color moves to violet.
By all accounts, the one common element of the ‘life-between-lives’ realm is its divine nature. All Souls exist in a world of harmony, kindness, patience, and absolute love. As mentioned earlier, this implies that the life-between-lives is actually the Soul temporarily residing in the higher energy sixth-density vibrational realm before reincarnating.
A decision as to your next physical incarnation
At some point in our life between lives — with the help of our guide or our Higher Spirit — we may decide it’s time for another incarnation and that it should once again be in the physical realm.
So, we are taken to ‘life selection,’ where we are given the choice of several bodies and lives to live. We are allowed to see the major events that will occur and test us in each of our potential lives — keeping enough hidden so as not to dissuade us.
Again, remember what quantum physics tells us about the nature of time. It is possible to choose among various lifetimes and see the major events in each one because time is an illusion.
It is more accurate to think of time as a three-dimensional space rather than a line that runs linearly only forward. As such, we can choose any coordinate we want and experience it — whether it be the past or future from our current perspective.
Re-entering the classroom of physical life
What is the purpose of incarnating again in 3D physical reality? And on what basis are we given the new physical bodies from which to choose?
Upon re-entering the physical realm, we relinquish our remembrance of ourselves. The purpose is simply to have the opportunity to experience what we failed to experience in all our previous physical lifetimes so far.
The Soul’s goal — its purpose — is to fully experience itself in the physical form and become the embodiment of all that there truly is — unconditional love.
This is the heart of all the religious and spiritual messages we have received throughout history. And this is the ultimate purpose of reincarnation into the physical realm — to give us many opportunities to get it right.
It would be difficult to evolve and perfect the Soul if we had only one life to try. We are given many lifetimes so that we have a chance to learn from our mistakes and ultimately realize the only appropriate response to any situation that we encounter on Earth is unconditional love.
Viewed from an evidence-based perspective, we see that whatever our circumstances in our lifetime on Earth — they were chosen by our Higher Spirit to enable us to experience necessary lessons and progress spiritually.
Ponder how much more sense life makes and how much easier it is to accept things from this spiritual perspective. We are not victims of some greater force outside us. We are not “unlucky.” We do not get “punished” for our transgressions. We need not cry out, “God, why me?” when unexpected or unwanted things occur. We need only understand that it was all set up this way for a specific purpose.
