That seems like very good advice. Thanks! With all this history going on, black parents don’t really advise their children on how to appear non-threatening to white people enough (after all, it’s not like our lives have depended on our ability to do so for all of our time in this country), so thank you for clearing that up for us.
That said, I like my hoodies. Sometimes, it’s cold where I live, or its rainy. Sometimes I just feel like wearing it, and I don’t really think I’ve ever seen a “hoodie free zone” I should watch out for.
Honestly, I think I’d rather just be able to walk around without needing to hope I’m pacifing white people enough.
