Founder’s Day is open to the public. Organizers anticipate a significant turnout of WURD listeners, as well as the appearance of numerous well-known influentials, elected officials, thoughts leaders, community advocates and media personalities in the Greater Philadelphia area and beyond.
“Especially during these very urgent and tragic times, WURD is so essential as a place where we share information, opinion, frustration, solutions, pain and joy in pursuit of freedom,” said Sara Lomax-Reese, daughter of Dr. Lomax and President & CEO of WURD Radio. “This was my father’s vision. He was unapologetically Black with a deep love and affection for our people, a Philly native, brilliant physician and entrepreneur who staunchly believed that economic self-sufficiency was a key ingredient to our liberation. That’s what we’ll be celebrating this Annual Founder’s Day and we look forward to Philadelphia and the nation memorializing with us.”
Activities will kick off at 7am ET with a live broadcast of “Wake Up With WURD” w/ host Solomon Jones. Doors will then open at 9am ET. Attendees are welcome to join WURD staff for: a Mind Your Business segment with Solomon Jones; The Summer Of Freedom Finale, with Stephanie Renee; Qigong Session And Healers Roundtable moderated by WURD President and CEO Sara Lomax-Reese; WURD Host Roundtable discussing The State Of Black Media In The Age Of Trump featuring WURD’s daytime hosts; and a special live edition of “Reality Check” Solutions Session hosted by Charles Ellison.
