Austin Tech, VOTE FOR Prop 1 on May 7

Joshua, I know your background and history here in town. I am pretty sure you want what’s best for Austin.

That being said, I have to ask; can you please show me a financial model for how 10,000 drivers in Austin are going to financially survive with Uber and Lyft as a primary or even part time job?

From all of the analysis I have done recently, they are “less than zero” sources of income. People who work as droids for these “on-demand” services are just delaying the inevitable of having to get a valuable job where they can financially prosper and live a comfortable life or pursue their dreams.

If anything, they just move more unwanted traffic into Austin’s already clogged roads and provide slave-labor wages to their vendors.

Uber doesn’t even allow its service providers to get tips or frowns upon it.

How is that “Austin?”

All I hear is new tech companies coming into Austin that want to subvert the quality of life and value we have in owning property and vehicles and businesses for the sake of some folk who just want a quick, cheap, thankless ride across town.

Uber and Lyft just seem to be the new McDonalds. Exciting concept. Cool apps. Dirt cheap products. But…where’s the beef?

IMHO, If Uber and Lyft won’t change and change the way they do business, they don’t make sense for Austin.
