Streetlab AMA Recap — August 11th 2022
Here is the full written recap of the internal AMA we had on Discord on August 11th 2022 to share the last updates of what happened behind the scene during the last 2 months, make a full breakdown of the Streetlab OGs drop and give visibility on the short term next steps.
The key strategic priorities of the last 2 months
a- We have started to fulfill our mission to enable the movement by bringing #StreetArtNFT drops to the NFT space.
We have been prioritizing what is at the very core of our mission, activity and business model for the first two months which was critical to establish trust, demonstrate our abilities and long term commitment beyond the Streetlab Genesis Drop.
b- It was also very important from an operational standpoint.
Behind each drop there is a massive project management to make it happen. This focus of the last 2 months has brought us a lot of learnings. We have basically been writing the playbook for seamless Artist onboarding & drop management.
All this will be instrumental to scale up the artists & projects onboarding in the long run to build a successful & valuable platform.
c- And finally these 2 months have been key to build up some tech capacities on the journey to become the go-to platform for the #StreetArtNFT. movement. With One Truth drop we have been able to replicate a second successful standard blind drop. With the Streetlab OGs drop we are ramping up our capacities to organize & manage multiple drops at the same time and we are introducing auction sales as a new sale type we are able to manage is key.
The Streetlab OGs Drop break down
Why it’s an important event?
This multi drops is an important event for both Streetlab and the whole #StreetArtNFT movement. First it shows the potential of diversity and artistic value that Street-Art can bring in the NFT space. We are demonstrating that #StreetArtNFT is far from being just some tokenized photos of existing murals. By unleashing the creativity of those Artists, we are bringing something new and incredibly rich within Web3.
The Streetlab OGs drop is also a big event in terms of numbers with 12 amazingly talented Artists dropping at the same time. And we are convinced that they’re all very successful Artists IRL who took months to design collections that resonates immensely with their existing Art. For all of them it’s a very strategic choice they made for the future of their career and that makes us extremely bullish on these collections.
It is also an opportunity to bring new collectors within Streetlab ecosystem from CryptoArt and traditional Art worlds.
Communication strategy
We are now entering the last communication sprint to bring as much exposure as we can:
- Cross AMA with other Art oriented communities
- Communication from the Artists to their networks mainly on Instagram + e-mails
- PR articles in negotiation
Drop mechanics
We leverage a key utility from Genesis: exclusive access to Streetlab drops.
A. Standard drops — August 23rd
The first phase for those Standard drops is a private sale reserved to Genesis Holders and a list of collectors hand-picked by the Artists.
First come First serve with a cumulated total supply of 388 NFTs.
Open to public 24 hours after the opening of the salesB. Auctions — August 25th
We are introducing classic English Auctions for the collections with smaller supply. A bid at the reserve price will trigger a 24-hour countdown and every bid in the last 15 minutes will reset the countdown at 15 minutes. All the auctions will be open only to Streetlab Genesis holders and the list of collectors hand-picked by the Artists during the first 24 hours. After that the auctions with no bid will be open to public. Every auctions with a bid will remain reserved to Streetlab community.
3 Short-term top priorities starting right after the OGs drop
1. Deployment of the Allowlist Allocation System & Curation Voting rights.
A. Allowlist Allocation System
We know that this feature is highly expected by the community and that it will also make the value of the Streetlab Genesis very concrete. For these reasons this will be our number 1 priority.
Our guiding principles & key objective are:
- Providing maximum value & utilities to the genesis holders
- Attract newcomers, clearly reward accumulation & long term holder behavior
- Power a solid & virtuous floor growth
Regarding the allocation system we will roll out a stacking mechanics enabling holders to accumulate points with their genesis on a daily basis. Each holder will have a balance of points and will be able to spend it to secure allowlist spots. With this system, it is clear that the more genesis you have and the longer you keep them unlisted the more points you generate and the more allowlist spots you can secure down the road.
B. Curation voting system
We are convinced that it’s very important for the whole project to empower the community and unleash the community energy to build the movement. The curation voting system is an important topic as curating the best #StreetArtNFT projects is key to Streetlab success. But we are also conscious that this challenge is more complex than one might think:
— Curation requires expertise and we want to help guiding the thinking of every community members in the curation process
— It will not just be YES or NO but a more comprehensive grade to assess all the key ingredients to make a successful project & career in the NFT space
— We also want to make sure that artists have sufficient room to introduce themselves, their projects & connect with the community. We are currently iterating on the best format to present the Artists and their collections.
2. Creative design of Streetlab.io platform
We have finalized the hiring an excellent creative agency and will be starting design sprints with Brand / UX / UI designers to create the full feature Streetlab platform. For the Streetlab OGs drop, we are releasing a temporary platform-like website.
As we explained in the last AMA, in terms of vision, we want this platform to be a synthesis of the best practices from existing players and also contribute to shaping the codes of the industry.
3. Community engagement reward
We want to say that we’re really proud of the community we have gathered so far. If we had to put adjectives to qualify the Streetlab community we would say that it is:
- Genuine with true Art collectors here, from different backgrounds but investing in Art and supporting Artists.
- Passionate about the whole NFT space and really supportive of the mission we’re carrying together to grow the #StreetArtNFT movement. We notice that the level of engagement in our Discord is high compared to most of the projects at the moment.
- Demanding, in a good way, that keeps us want to keep pushing and execute perfectly everything we’re adding to the project. Also grateful to have very valuable feedbacks from you guys and we know that we don’t always answer to all the ideas shared on Discord but we’re reading everything and we have a daily report from our beloved moderators. So know that all your suggestions and feedbacks and taken into account.
We have always been in a willing to reward the positive engagement of the community. We are currently thinking of a system to reward this positive engagement with Bill leading this topic. The brainstorm includes the existing Streetlab XP system. It’s coming soon and we’ll unveil the detailed mechanics as soon as we’re ready!
The next AMA will take place in September to share all the updates on the top short-term priorities. Now it’s time to make a successful OGs drop and continue writing the Street-Art history together.
