What to Do in Amarillo This Labor Day Weekend

There’s a three-day weekend coming up, and for a lot of us that means catching up on sleep, running errands, and doing chores around the house. There’s so much to do — and so little time — which is why Labor Day weekend seems like the perfect day to start chipping away at your to-do list.

How about instead of grinding away on housekeeping tasks this holiday weekend, you get out and explore in your hometown? Street Toyota has compiled a list of activities around Amarillo to keep you busy this Labor Day weekend, so you may as well just put the laundry off until Tuesday.

Labor Day Weekend in Amarillo, Texas

Wonderland Park: It’s the last weekend of the year to visit your favorite local amusement park. Get your thrills on a roller coaster, play a round of miniature golf, or cool off on one of the water slides. The park is open from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday.

First Friday Art Walk: On Friday, September 2, the Galleries at Sunset Center will fill up with artwork from more than 50 local artists. Spend your Friday evening enjoying their creativity and listening to music from local musicians. Event is from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Texas AirHogs Game: Support your local AirHogs baseball team at any of their four home games over Labor Day weekend. The AirHogs play the Sioux City Explorers at Potter County Memorial Stadium on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening, plus Monday afternoon.

Goodnight Under the Stars: Want to really celebrate this Labor Day? Enjoy a steak dinner, wine tasting, concert and more at the ultimate date night this Monday at the Charles Goodnight Historical Center. Be sure to wear your “good boots” to this event.
