µMicrolooper and µGrainstorm

A number of years ago during my first burst of monome arc development, I created a couple of popular applications called tml and grainstorm. Interestingly, these applications have survived and musicians still seem to use them from time to time.

Last week I gave a solo performance with the monome arc and grid using four new devices which are currently available at my github. Among those are µMicrolooper and µGrainstorm which are Ableton Live adaptions of these applications. Where the original apps were four or eight voices, µMicrolooper and µGrainstorm are individual voice instances. The idea is you can use multiple instances of these devices — as many or as few as you need, and use Ableton Live to process and mix each instance as you would a normal audio or instrument track.

Personally, I assign keyboard hot keys to each track, and this puts the instance in focus. In my performance, I used three instances each of µMicrolooper and µGrainstorm.
