The Benefits of Small Schools on Student Motivation and Engagement


In an era of greater and greater school consolidation, this study provides data to support the notion that students in small high schools are more connected and engaged with their learning than their peers who attend medium and large-sized schools. Results from the 2015 High School Survey of Student Engagement (HSSSE), which measures dimensions of school engagement and academic climate, are discussed.
