Is It Snow, Chalk, Or Something Else?
This continuing series looks at things observed when walking. Some of these objects will be familiar to some readers, but many are likely to be unfamiliar to most. I’m presenting those objects that catch one’s attention perhaps by their unusual placing, incongruity, idiosyncrasy, or simply their oddness.
This one looks at something entirely natural that manages to raise questions about its identity. Is it blown snow? Some strange geological formation? No, of course, it’s the incoming tide on a shallow rising beach with the sun shining on it.
If it’s of interest to you, it was shot from the window of a hotel we were staying in. It is part of the bay at Rhossili on the Gower Peninsula in South Wales.
That whole area is a walker’s paradise, with hills, woods, open landscapes, a rocky and active coast, and some great places to relax with a meal and a drink.
