Walking on the Greek Island of Skiathos

Originally, this was going to be a short series of posts, detailing each walk we made during our fortnight on Skiathos. It quickly became clear, however, the lack of identifiable landmarks made this less useful than a general post about the experience. So this piece includes a short description of our experience, photographs showing what walkers can expect, and a map derived from Google Maps to show the potential routes.

We flew to the island on 3rd May 2022, from Bristol, at a time when recent chaos in the airports hadn’t really started. A coach transferred us from the airport on the island to a hotel selected by our travel agent as I’d been unable to find a suitable place online.

Travelling to this spot in early May isn’t recommended if you always expect warm weather. We arrived to a cold wind and cloudy skies. It didn’t help that the pool bar of the hotel we landed in had recently been cleaned by spraying the furniture with water.
