While I agree with the sentiment, I do not believe this is a true statement. People have trouble with the English language and definition of words. They often claim something because the word connotes something that is hard to argue against and insulates that person from further scrutiny. Claiming to have been insulted is one of these words. We should always look at both sides of the story, and not to defend Eli, I agree his critiques could improve greatly, they often are not insulting to specific people. The exception being those that take their work very personally.
